Transforming public
spaces from inadequate
to extraordinary
Cities have the capability of providing something for everybody, only because, and only when, they are created by everybody.
— Jane Jacobs
Placemaking is turning a neighborhood, town or city from a place you can’t wait to get through to one you never want to leave.
Everyone has the right to live in a great place. More importantly, everyone has the right to contribute to making the place where they already live great.
I end, then, in praise of small spaces. For a city, such places are priceless.
— William H. Whyte

The Placemaking Fund is a new non-profit whose goal is to achieve large-scale social and environmental change through two inaugural programs (see below). The Placemaking Fund serves as an intermediary for funders who want to invest in the placemaking movement. It builds on our 43 year record of success at Project for Public Spaces, Inc. and is led by Fred Kent, Kathy Madden, and Steve Davies. If you would like to collaborate, please contact us at hello@placemakingfund.org.
